Default Tips on Beating Hells Precipice *spoilers*

Now since this is the last mission of the game, I am aware that it is intended to be hard, but, this mission is extreamly challenging. I've tried about 6 times and have not managed to get half way yet. I guess a ranger bringing winter helps, but what is the best way to approach this mission? Sorry for any spoilers.

Thanks

The best way to beat it, is to be with a good group.

Try and bring at least 2 elementalists and use winter so that they're spells don't do reduced damage. Having 2 monks definitely helps, whether they be henchmen or players. When fighting, defeat enemies in this order: Sparks(Imps), Hands/Fists, Titans, Risens. Don't kill more than one risen at a time before you kill the hands/fists. Also try pulling some of the bigger groups, as they are usually comprised of 2 seperate mobs.

My two cents:

* Healing monk
* Healing monk
* Protection monk
* Someone with winterspirit
* Shutdown mesmer
* Rest elementalists

i beat the mission and bonus with all henchies. henchies can maintain the focus fire, whereas often times PUGs cannot. you just have to be patient. depending on your toon type, its good to have icy mods on your weapons, skills or spells.

The group is the key. We did it on the first try with a great group. Had 1 healing monk, 1 protect, 2 ranger, 1 necro, 1 ele, and 2 warrior.

Have to work together, listen, and winter is a must.

I beat the mission yesturday, I think the second monk was key. Also we had an earth elementalist with 3 wards wich especially kept me from death, good ol' earth elementalists

I just finished it yewsturday. I tried a long time ago but couldnt get it, so I just made some new chars and worked on them. I'd say the biggest prob was all the groups were looking for warriors/ele's/monks and nothing else. Being that necro, well, put me on the sidelines. One day, I was looking through all my spells....and I decided to switch from Death/Blood to Curses/Blood. Totally had to change everything. The curses I had were ones that would basically make the enemy do nothing. Shadow of Fear, Enfeebling Blood, Faintheartedness, coupled with Life Siphon, Insideous Parasite, and Spiteful Spirit made the enemy attack -50%, -50% with reduced damage. And every time they attacked, just lost health to it. I think that greatly helped our group. Our group had 4 warriors, me (necro), a person healer, Alesia, and Lina. Those 3 healers helped out emmensly. With a little strategy and the ability to listen,focus fire, we had ourselves a winner and I finally beat the game

When fighting, concentrate on the Titans first: kill all of them before focusing on the charred ember monsters that spawn from them (forgot the name). After that, focus on one of the non-glowing monsters that spawned from the Titan, kill it, and kill the two firehand guys that spawn from that. Then go on to the next non-glowing guy and kill them that way. Call targets. I think Henchies would work.

I can get to Rurik with henchies. And already skill capped and gotten bonus with henchies, so I'm just wondering how you got past Rurik.

I beat it and the bonus on my second try with henchmen only. The first hint I have is focus on one titan at a time. Kill it, then kill its spawn, then kill the two spawns it makes. Then go to the next one. Dont try and kill them all at once or you will be overwelmed by the spawns.

Pulling is key. Get someone as a designated puller, keep everyone back, and pull them one at a time to the group. This makes things MUCH easier and safer. This is especially important when you get to the three portal area. There are a ton of baddies to deal with so a good puller is a must. Do the bonus. Not to spoil anything, but you will need to do the hard part of the bonus to finish the mission anyways, so you might as well talk to the guy who gives you the bonus so you get the credit.

****SPOILER ALERT*******

down

down some more

down a little more

here we go.

When you fight the final boss, make sure you kill him on the center stone. If you kill him off the stone, he will re-spawn at full health and you will have to do it all over again.

IMO, this mission was much easier than the ascention missions, Thunderhead keep and the ring of fire mission.

Hope that helps some. Oh, and as a final thought, Ice spells are nice but definately not necessary. I did it with henchmen and my toon, a fire elementalist with Meteor, meteor shower, firestorm, flair, and fireball. Then I did it with a group, one who had winter and I really didn't see much of a difference in the damage I was doing with my fire attacks. I was getting max. damage or better on all spells both times.

This was actually one of the easiest later missions you will find. As stated above, just get a good group who has half a clue what they are doing and you'll fly right through it.

Pull, pull, pull. When I did it, I would go to the group on the left, pull them, back up the hill you start on and deal with them there. Then the fire imps, then the group on the right. Finally Rurik. The fire imps on top of the mountain are what will do the most damage so it is good to get out of their range.

For those out there having problems pulling with henchmen, pulling can be done with henchmen. How I do it is to target only the closest, then cast a fast spell. Don't attack/fire! (hitting the space bar or clicking the mouse on the target) Firing/attacking tells your henchmen to attack too and it is much harder to turn them around once they get blood in their eyes! This is what happens doing it my way: My toon will run to the edge of the bubble, cast and as soon as the cast is done I run BACKWARDS (hit the "S" key). This does two things. It will keep the henchmen from attacking about 70% of the time. In the 30% when the fighters do try and attack, they will turn around and run back to you just about all of the time. If you turn around and run, they will ignore you and continue to attack. With this strategy, I can pull successfully just about every time using henchmen with very few failures. I hope this helps some people out there, and if you already knew this, I'm sorry for wasting your time!

Now, if someone can tell me the secret to make the henchman healers take care of important NPC's (Thunderhead keep)..........
